Woodland is a fully hand-painted miniature book. The story about this one is of the winding ones, but if you would rather just have the details, skip it and find those on the bottom of the description. As for those who would rather read about making, this book was almost never made and few times left to wait, until being finally done.

---

I did the illustrations while being quite sick last year, unable to move out of bed or do anything serious. Since I had to "do something", this was one of rare things I could do in bed (with few interesting ink and watercolors spillages and dyeing the bed sheets in interesting patterns, ahem). But during that, I got more sick and had to abandon this altogether. They were left in my projects drawer to wait for better times.

I got better finally, but had a sudden large commission and everything else was set aside, while most of my life went on hiatus because of that. I finished the commission only to get another one and then my own personal project came to focus, then an exhibition one... Over six months later, I found the illustrations in the drawer, while cleaning it and barely remembered making them. In urge to finish, I made endpapers and then again was forced to leave it, as there was a oil painting to be done in short notice.

Three more months passed and few weeks back, I found the illustrations again, this time firmly deciding to finish the book. So the book was bound and covers were made up to the leather covering, when there was another break in the process. The book was set to wait once again. I found it couple of days ago and to my horror, found an unusual damage on back endpaper...it cracked full length. I have absolutely no idea why, except maybe the glue was drying to fast.

It almost finished this project then and there, but after some thinking I concluded I want it finished and finished as it was, no endpapers change. So the decorations on the front cover were done and  finally, after a long time in making, here it is :)

"Woodland" measures 1.8 cm (0.70 inch) and has ten hand painted illustrations in ink and watercolors, plus two endpapers done in same technique. It's a perfect bound book, with hard covers bound in faux leather, matte version (handmade by me). The raised letters and decorations are done in 3D paste, which is a technique I rarely use in general, but wanted to do here.

In the end, I hope you like it :D

*In general, this miniature book is for sale, but as it is, with the cracked back endpaper and all.  If interested in something of a similar sort, however, feel free to note me, convo me on Etsy or contact me otherwise.
