Silver Dragon Hatchling by Maylar Silver Dragon Hatchling by Maylar
YT:[link]

Here is another of my dragons, this time a bigger one. All in all, from tips of the horns to the stand, it measures around 15 cm (5.9 inch). This is what I call a big egg (just in case you plan to commission me/order something ;) ).

All is handmade, all from a scratch, as always.

Anyway, also as always, my camera plays tricks...while coloration of scales and horns is perfect, eyes and tongue are lighter than in photos. Eye detail shows the color closest to the original.

Tell me what you think. Hope you like it :)

Sorry for the late reply...it's neither, but a special clay made for me, mix of air dry clay and stone powder. It can be painted, polished and altered even when dry, so it is very flexible material for these kinds of work.

I'm glad you like it, thank you :)

Thank you so much and sorry for being late. No, it's not metal, it is a clay painted to look like metal :)

This is so gorgeous! I recently started a hatchling collection myself using chicken eggs I'd saved, only done the quezecoatal so far though... =) The details on this are really nice, my favorite part is the rings on the horns, so cute! ^_^

Thank you so much :) I used to work with chicken eggs, only they tend to go in wrong sizes for my needs (lol), so...Wow, I would like to see that one you made, it must look cool! Any link?
I'm glad you like horns, they were last minute inspiration :)

Here it is! [link] Thanks for the interest I know some people get super irate if you post links on their stuff so I refrained until asked lol <3 Yeah it was a bit difficult to make sure I sculpted it to the right size, in fact one wing isn't atatched to the snake at all, it's glued to the egg! Hard to tell from the shots I took though lol <3

Thank you for the link :) Lol, yeah, people usually don't like those...the amount of spaming around is just too great, so no one likes unchecked links and so on and on...
I enjoyed seeing your Quetzalcoatl, it looks cool! I love it, especially the fact the eyes are red. Great! ^^
Btw, did you know you can strengthen the egg shell by coating it with epoxy? When working with real eggs (which is rarely these days, cause I prefer sculpting mine, but once I did it A LOT), I used to use two part crystal clear epoxy for coating inside and out. You do it in very thin layer and first on the outside, later the insides.
It makes the egg incredibly hard in the end, but it takes 24h to dry (the kind I used) and is kinda expensive too (around 50$ per liter) ...however if you considering selling these, it is a must, but it would definitely pay off.

Oh thank you! I was actually using a plate glaze spray on the inside and outside for them, your method sounds stronger though for sure!
